Whether you are planning a staycation, travelling abroad or simply just visiting family, here at TORRO we understand the stress that these exciting plans can bring. We've compiled out top 7 travel tips.
Plan Ahead
The key to staying organised on holiday begins before you actually embark on your journey. Start by creating a checklist that includes all the necessary tasks, such as booking accommodation, transportation & transfers, luggage etc.
Do some research on your destination and make a list of must-see attractions, local customs, and any essential travel information.
Use Travel-Specific Tools And Accessories
Invest in travel accessories that can streamline your planning and organisation. For example, a portable charger can ensure your electronic devices are always powered up, while a toiletry bag with compartments can keep your essentials organised and easily accessible.
Additionally, consider using travel document organisers to ensure all of your important documents such as passports, tickets, currency and cards are kept safe and secure.
Pay by credit card for Section 75 protection
Pay by credit card and you are protected under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act should the provider go out of business or if the product or service is not delivered or is not as described.
Even if you just made part of the purchase with your credit card (such as a deposit for your holiday) then you can still make a claim as long as the total purchase price for the whole trip is between £100 and £30,000.
Don't forget Travel Insurance
Forgetting to arrange appropriate insurance could be a very costly decision. Is it a risk you're prepared to take? It's advisable to take out insurance as soon as you have paid for your holiday. If the unexpected happens, travel insurance cover could protect you from unexpected bills.
Pack Your Carry-On Wisely
To give yourself a little insurance just in case something happens to your suitcase between takeoff and landing, pack your carry-on bag accordingly.
Here are the items that I recommend packing in your carry on:
- A change of clothes, just in case…
- Toiletries
- Reading/Entertainment
- All Travel Documents
- Snacks
- Comfort Items (neck pillow, eye pillow, ear buds, ear plugs)
Pack a Capsule Wardrobe
As tempting as it is to pack a different outfit for each day of your trip, most experts recommend scaling back, even if it means there will be a few outfit repeats. It's also a good idea to bring at least one jacket or outer layer to provide extra warmth on the plane or in a cold hotel room.
Roll Your Clothes, Don't Fold
It turns out that folding all of your clothes isn't doing your travel organisation any good. Items get buried, shifted in transit, and hopelessly wrinkled when stacked on top of each other. Rolling your clothes instead of folding them can help save space in your suitcase and prevent wrinkles.
